As a General Manager, Commodities Trading, you will employ a hands-on and organized approach to oversee the purchase of commodities, update our inventory strategy and co-ordinate logistics and liaise with suppliers to ensure the stability of our supply chain. They will also ensure that project-approved budgets are adhered to and evaluate markets to mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and approve supplier and market details
- Devise ways and means to maximize commodity buying efficiency and minimize risks
- Oversee all daily operations related to trading activities covering business development, sales and marketing, co-ordinate import and export operations and administrative matters.
- Collaborate with suppliers on improving quality.
- Alleviate risks and focus on developing supplier performance.
- Lead the business development and marketing team from end-to-end in the commodity business
- Recruit, onboard and train employees to achieve objectives for commodity sourcing, sales and purchase.
- Develop and maintain business communication with suppliers regarding their concerns.
- Develop, implement and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans
- Report to the Managing Director and the Board on al administrative and business matters of the company.
Required Skills
- At least 10 years of experience as a commodity trading specialist or in the trading business especially in the mining and chemical industry both locally and nternationally.
- Possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business Studies, Administration, Management, Marketing, Interntional Trading or a related field
- Strong interpersonal skills, detailed and strong decision making skills are required
- Previous experience in supply chain or commodity management
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication abilities
- Knowledge of international trade regulations and logistics
